Native Bee Habitats and Nests

Promoting pollinator communities and habitats is an important conservation measure that many people can do at their own home. However, many of the proposals fail to include monitoring and upkeep. It is critical to monitor populations and clean nests to prevent pathogens from decimating pollinator populations.
Putting up nest boxes is a great way to help native bees; just like with bird houses, bee nest boxes need to be cleaned or replaced yearly. Bees are susceptible to numerous predators and parasitoids that will build up in nest boxes like these.
